GOD IS ONE

The biblical text supports the belief in monotheism. Here are some of them…

Judaism:

  1. “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.” (Deuteronomy 6:4, NIV): As mentioned earlier, this verse is a fundamental statement of the Jewish faith, emphasizing the belief in one God.
  2. “I am the Lord, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God.” (Isaiah 45:5, NIV): This verse reinforces the belief in the oneness of God, and that there is no other God apart from the Lord.
  3. “Before me, no god was formed, nor will there be one after me.” (Isaiah 43:10, NIV): This verse highlights the uniqueness of God and underscores the belief that there is only one God who is eternal and unchanging.

Christianity:

  1. “Jesus answered, ‘The most important is, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”‘ ” (Mark 12:29, ESV)
  2. “Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that there is no such thing as an idol in the world, and that there is no God but one.” (1 Corinthians 8:4, NASB)
  3. “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Timothy 1:17, NASB)
  4. “You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!” (James 2:19, ESV)

Islam:

  1. “Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; and there is none like unto Him.” (Quran 112:1-4): This passage from the Quran emphasizes the oneness of God in Islam, and that there is no other deity except Allah.
  2. “Allah is One, Allah is Eternal. He neither begets nor is born.” (Quran 112:2-3): This verse further emphasizes the uniqueness of Allah and the belief that God is not a physical entity that can be born or produce offspring.
  3. “There is no god but He, the Creator of all things, so worship Him alone.” (Quran 6:102, Yusuf Ali translation): This verse reinforces the belief in the oneness of God and the importance of worshiping Him alone, as the Creator of all things.
